This isn’t just another fancy looking water bottle. According to Ayurvedic texts, copper balances all three doshas, or elements, in our bodies (Vata, Pitta, Kipha). Water supercharged with copper ion gives us a host of health boosting benefits!

Whilst the anti-microbial properties  happen in shorter time, it’s best to leave water in your bottle overnight (8-10 hours) for full supercharged benefits.

The copper bottle leaves the minutest trace of copper in the bottle (well below the RDA). This occurs with the supercharging, if water is left in the bottle 8-10 hours (which is the recommended time). If you have any concerns (for example, in pregnancy or illness), use the bottle but don’t leave the water overnight. Whilst the water won’t be supercharged, you’ll still benefit from the anti-microbial properties.

Note: Copper is a soft and flexible material that moves easily with changes in temperature. These bottles are fully natural and hand crafted, with a silicone seal around the edge. As such, it may not be 100% leak proof, particularly if the bottle is placed upside down.

Caring for your copper health guardian:

Rinse the bottle 2-3 times with warm water before first use. Wipe the outside with a damp cloth and let the bottle air dry. Copper conducts heat very well, so use hot water with caution!

The copper bottle likes pure water only, so don’t mix in flavourings (acidic or otherwise), put it in the dishwasher or wash it with detergent containing bleaching agents or alcohol. Chemical agents and other harsh ingredients will discolour and tarnish the bottle and shorten its life span. Whilst it’s a bad idea to add hot water, you can pop the bottle in the fridge to enjoy a pure cool drink on a hot day. If you want a hot or flavoured drink, pour the pure water from your bottle into another container before heating.

A wonderful feature of your copper bottle is that, over time, it will develop a natural patina residue and a beautiful darker hue. Most hand washing detergents contain chemicals that will tarnish the surface to develop this copper patina, and further birthmarks of its environment will appear, particularly if you live near the sea. Your copper bottle will change over time, with its own story to tell.

If you want to restore the shine, wash it with a homemade salt-vinegar solution, or rub with half a lemon sprinkled in salt. Rinse well with water and leave to air dry.
